PRESS RELEASE FOR PUSH, PULL or DRAG 5K

PUSH, PULL OR DRAG 5K TO SUPPORT AND FUND BRAIN INJURY
PROGRAMS AND SERVICES IN NORTHERN NEVADA
RENO, NV- March 23, 2015- Because I Can along with the help from Brain Recovery Assistants Institute of Nevada (B.R.A.I.N.) and Double Diamond Athletic Club (DDAC) have designed and organized a walk where everyone is encouraged to participate no matter what limitation they may have. You can run, walk, ride a bike or use a wheel chair – PUSH, PULL or DRAG!
Our goal is to raise critical funds in order to provide programs that allow independence through innovated coaching, empowerment, public awareness, education and youth prevention programs for the thousands in need across Northern Nevada that live with brain injury. We do not receive any federal or state funding.
“Although there has been recent media attention to brain injury, it remains underfunded, poorly understood and misdiagnosed or undiagnosed, despite the fact that brain injury affects more people than breast cancer, colon cancer and HIV/AIDs,” said Teresa Morros, Executive Director of B.R.A.I.N. “Brain Injury is a very real and complex medical condition that creates the need for long term or even life-long assistance, which is why we need as much support as possible.” Morros knows firsthand since her son suffered a severe traumatic brain injury in 2008.
The walk is a 5K and participants can walk at their own pace. There will be music, refreshments, healthy snacks and raffles at the event. Vendors will provide information on brain injury and other resources.
